It's cool to see one of these cars doing some serious track work. Adam brought this car from a car yard
in 2002, it had previous owners in Adelaide and prior to that, was owned by a couple from Victoria. They painted
the car its current colour in 1996, it was originally white. Wheels are Centre Line Convo Pros, 15x4 up front and 15x8.5 out back. The front end has had a full rebuild. The 343 has been rebuilt with Ross forged pistons, Scat H-beam rods, 292 Comp cam, Crane roller rockers, larger Ferrea valves, ported original rectangular port heads, Edelbrock airgap manifold, 750 HP Holley, MSD dizzy and digital 6 box. Also has custom tri-y headers.904 Torqueflite box, 3000 rpm stall converter. Larger Chrysler radiator with EF Falcon thermo fans. Inside has autometer gauges and B&M pro ratchet shifter. The photo at the drags was with the standard 343 and 100hp nitrous, the car ran 13.8 @ 96mph. Adam hasn't had a chance to race it since the rebuild, but is hoping for low 12's, he is expecting the engine to have around 425hp. |

| Update 23-05-2007 |
Adam towed his car over to Mildura for the Nostalgia Drags on the 20th May 2007. They are run there over a 1/8th mile track.
The car ran an 8.06 second pass at 89 mph, which would be equivalent to approximately 12.6 seconds and 110 mph over the 1/4 mile. Adam is very happy
with the result and hopes to knock a few more tenths off when he gets some 4.10 diff gears to replace the current 3.15 gears. The car got
plenty of attention on the day, with a lot of people commenting on how you don't see them very often and that it's good to see one racing. Here are a few pics from the day: |

Dianne has owned her sky blue 1968 Javelin since 1983. She brought it from a family in Yackandandah who believed they were the 2nd owner.
The car had been used daily and even towed the boat to the river for their fishing days out. As a result it was in need of paint, carpets,
and a new windscreen. The 343 had had new rings, bearings etc and a cam added as the owner decided that at 100,000 miles it would probably
need to be rebuilt. Of course when they pulled the motor down it didn't really it, but as they had bought the new parts they were fitted
anyway. The car's debut outing was the 1983 Rambler Car Club Annual Concourse and Jan 1984 it displayed her in the Hot Rod & Custom Show
in the Melbourne Exhibition Building. In an effort to discover more about Javelins and to meet other owners, Dianne placed an ad to form a club/register and in May 1984 the AM Javelin Register of Australia Inc. was born. They are still going strong and have an active membership of around 50 owners across Australia. The Register has listed in excess of 200 Javelins to date and is always on the lookout for more. Dianne's car is not the only Javelin in the family, her husband and son also have Javelins. |

This includes replacing the tired factory bucket seats with some recaro items, along with some additional leather trim. The dragways will make way for some weld wheels and the engine may get a bit of a work over with a new cam and some headers. | ||

| 1968 Javelin | Kevin found this 1968 Javelin through the Rambler Car Club of WA, it had been in the same family since new. The car had been sitting in a shed for 5 years and needless to say it needed a little bit of work. The exhaust had completely tusted out and had to be replaced. The car has had both the motor and transmission rebuilt. Kevin was not really happy with the factory white paint job, so he repainted the car in a burgandy colour. Still not happy, he repainted it again in a darker burgandy. Even this was still not completely to his liking, so he sanded it back yet again and applied the current candy apple red paint with factory go pac striping. The car has been the same colour for a few years now, so it looks like he has finally happy with it. | ||

| Javelin No. 50 | Jon brought this Javelin (number 50) as a wreck and has rebuilt it from there. The original colour was mustard, but the car was already red when he bought it, so he decided to keep it that way. The colour coded bumpers and stripes really suit the look of the car. The wheels are classic 14" x 6" magnums. It's running a 360 with Edelbrock alloy heads, a performer manifold, 850 dp Holley carburettor and a Carter high volume mechanical fuel pump. The cam is a large comp cams hydralic unit. The radiator has also been upgraded to an alloy VZ Commodore unit with electric fans. The driveline consists of a 727 auto with 3000 stall and a Falcon tin hat diff with 3.25 gears that was already in the car when it was purchased. | ||

Shane recently purchased this 1969 Javelin from a gentleman in the town of Allendale, near Mt Gambier in South Australia.
He had purchased the car back in the 1970's and performed many of the somewhat dated modifications seen on the car today.
The car was originally red, but was repainted black some time in the 1980's. The car was last registered in 1987 and has been
shed-bound ever since. The previous owner updated the powerplant to a sweet 360 at some stage and the original 343 block was
also included with the car. Shane has plans to strip the car back to bare metal and restore it to near factory condition including
returning it to the factory shade of red. Shane is looking for a replacement bonnet for the car, as the existing one has a great big hole cut into it. If anybody can help him out, please let us know. |

Rod bought his Javelin from a guy in Somerville, Victoria around 2000. Since then he has fitted the Minilite wheels (copies), a stainless-steel
chin spoiler and has attempted to polish the paint. It's had a respray in its original Signal Red at some stage, that is starting to show its age.
Rod reckons it's a 20 foot car, i.e. it looks good at 20 feet, but up close it needs a little bit of work. The engine runs nice, but is getting
a little tired (it's been running on LPG for over 10 years), the auto still works fine. On the plus side the interior is complete and in great
nick (AMI did that well). It's a regular driver which is one reason why Rod hasn't restored it, he can't bear to not drive it while it's being
worked on! (I think we can all understand that). Rod is currently finishing another "driver" Javelin so the '69 can eventually get a makeover .. The other car is the blue 1974 model Javelin pictured, it was imported from Colorado in the USA. Rod purchased the car locally in 2006. It's getting work on the rear qtrs (the only real rust). The 304 engine has been rebuilt to stock specs at some time in it's past and runs nice, it just needs a bit of work on the auto. The interior is nice (as nice as original '70s velour can be!!). It will be a "driver" with a pseudo-TransAm/StockCar type look .. |

| AMX-03 | The red car is AMX number 3, it runs a 325 bhp 390 V8 with auto transmission and is painted in signal red with white stripes. The wheels are Magnum 500's with redline tyres. It was purchased a few years ago from another AMC collector. The car is complete and very presentable athough it is starting to show some wear in the usual places. Andrew has plans to strip it down for rebuild some time in the future. He is currently doing that to his 74 Hornet hatch, which will have a nice 401 to replace the tired old 258 that was in it. | AMX-10 | AMX number 10 is one of the many vehicles in John's awesome AMC collection at the Bodallin Motor Museum in WA. John has a passion for all things AMC related and has amassed the largest collection of immaculate fully restored AMC cars in the southern hemisphere. As well as Ramblers, he has vehicles from Hudson and Nash, including some rare cars that have been imported from overseas. John has recently completed the construction of new building in which to store and display the cars. In addition to the cars, the walls are adorned with signs and memorabilia from a bygone era. John has even managed to find a rambler bicycle to help him get from one end of the shed to the other. John has owned this nice red 1970 Javelin since 1987 and has restored it with many NOS parts which he bought back in 1987-1990 when they were a lot
cheaper than they are now (lucky buggar). The 390 engine has been rebuilt to 0.030 oversize, blueprinted, balanced and port matched etc, it runs
strong, producing over 400Hp. The 727 TF has been rebuilt, and the car runs a 3.54:1 diff. He has also fitted a new set of Kelsey Hayes brakes.
The AMC Magnum 500 wheels were originally 14"x7", but have been re-rimed to 15"x7". Also fitted is a "Gymkhana” Super Street sway bar set sold by
Larry Mitchell, AMX Enterprises in Denver USA, yes, they do fit RHD cars. John has recently bought a NOS 1970 “Edelbrock R4B” intake manifold with AMC part number, which will replace the existing “Edelbrock Performer”. The Performer flows quite well on the 390/401cu but tends to run out of steam at around 420HP. The nostalgic Edelbrock R4B intake manifold should be good for up to about 460HP. Should make for one very quick car. |

This very original looking Javelin has been in Tony's wife's family since it was about 12 months old.
Tony has recently stated to do a little bit of maintenance on the car including the fitting of a
new radiator (HQ-HZ Holden V8 3 core unit), fan shroud and a bit of ancilary work to the cooling
system. This has helped to make the car run a lot cooler. He also has a suspension overhaul planned.
The car still has the original purchase book with service tickets up to 12000 miles. Tony has sent through a bit of an update on the work that he has done to the car, this includes: Fitting 1972 Javelin ventilated discs and matching calipers to front along with a new original master cyclinder. Upgrading the exhaust with a set of 41mm extractors and 2.5 inch stainless steel pipes, it sounds great. The engine has been tuned properly and is running very nicley now. The auto choke spring was also replaced and the car starts first time every time. |

| 1971 AMX | Kevin came across this 1971 AMX in a magazine at 11.30 pm one night, within half an hour he had arranged to purchase it. The car was in Dandenong in Victoria, so he had to wait a couple of months before it was delivered to Western Australia. Kevin soon had the car stripped for a rebuild. The body was taken back to bare metal and after spending 3 months on preparation, it was finally sprayed the current orange colour with black stripes. The factory layout for the stripes was scaled from a 1971 sales brochure. The car was re-wired and the orignial 401 engine was given a rebuild with a few enhancements by Ben Ludlow in Perth, it now puts out around 330 HP. It runs a factory 4 speed manual transmission, which is very rare in this country. Kevin doesn't have a lot of history on the car, but it is believed to have been brought out as an evaluation/demo model prior to the release of the 1972 Javelin in Australia | ||

Hanns recently purchased this tough looking 1972 AMC Javelin SST coupe from Lennox Head in NSW. The car was originally silver pearl metallic but has
been repainted 2pak Graphite Black in colour. The interior is light blue with the original black and red seats under covers. Extras include a 5 inch
Autometer tacho, with shift light set at 6800rpm, along with Autometer temperature, volts and oil pressure gauges. The big 401 cubic inch V8 has been fully balanced and runs a nitrited steel crank, forged, shot peened rods, TRW 11:1 forged pistons, Isky comp cam, Rhodes solid lifters and titanium retainers. The heads have been ported and polished to flow 600hp+, with k-lined guides, stainless steel pro-flo Manley valves and Yella-terra roller rockers. The intake is a port matched Torker 2 manifold topped with a Barry Grant 980cfm carb that is fed from the custom drop tank by a Holley blue, elecric fuel pump. The spark comes from a MSD 7AL ignition and exhaust gases exit via 1 7/8 inch mandrel bent headers into 3 1/2 inch collectors. The 727 Torque Command tranmission has received a full comp kit, manual shift valve body, B&M super hole-shot convertor with 2800 RPM stall and a trans cooler to finish things off. The diff is a Dana 60, 9 1/4 inch, unit with 35 spline semi floating axles and 4.56:1 gear ratio. A talishaft loop is also fitted. The wheels are Weld Stars, 15"x5" up front with 5.0"x26" front runners and massive 15"x10" rims out the back fitted with 305x60 McCreary street rubber. The has run an 11.5 second quater mile when a pervious owner had it. Since purchasing the car, Haans has had it fully rewired and has also fitted a new exhaust to quiten that nasty engine down so that he can run it on the street. His mechanic took it for a drive, his assessment was, "God help you." |

| Javelin Wrecks |
These pictures of a few Javelins that didn't make it were sent in by Andrew Tuck. The first car was at a dump in Adelaide, the story related to Andrew was that the car was being rebuilt in a southern crash shop. The shop went bust and all owners were encouraged to come and get there cars and pay there debts. The owner of the Jav never turned up and after a few months the remaining cars were dumped in a local land fill site. This is what is left. Its a shame the cars didn't go up for auction as this one might have been saved. The other cars were parted out by Rampart Automotive many years ago. The purple 69 looks like a solid car but the amount of plastic in it was over the top, they we were removing sections up to 2" thick in some places. The blue 72 model was very rusty, it had no floor and when one of the rear 1/4 panels was removed only the upper 4-6" was sound, rest had rusted away |
